    Recently made a trout melt with some Trader Joe’s tinned trout and it was delicious.

    I add chopped pickled jalapeños & a little of the pickling brine into the tuna mix. Gives it a nice spicy, tangy kick!

  9. My favorite grilled sandwich. My go too when I am feeling lazy but want something good. 

    I recommend lightly toasting the bread first so it doesn’t get soggy then add the cheese and tuna finish off in the pan. I like butter on the outside. 

    Also the Penzy Spices Sandwich sprinkle blend is so good mixed into Tuna, it really adds a lot of flavor without being overpowering. Compliments it perfectly in my opinion. 

    I also add pepperchi into my tuna or capers depending on my mood. 

    Tomatoes can be pretty good too.

    How do you make a closed face tuna melt? Like a grilled cheese? Doesn’t the tuna get, like, super hot? And you miss out on the slightly burnt bits. I mean, I’m down to try one [even tonight!] but I don’t really get it.

    Second question: I see you use the term “plus up”. Do you watch *Sandwiches of History* by chance? It’s great.

    I like to grill the inside of the bread slices before I construct and grill / melt it up. Also a fun of a few jalapeños on there. Usually Swiss but almost all cheese is delicious on a melt. Great sandwich.

    Love ‘em. I like them more than a grilled cheese. I like it more as a sandwich than open faced. I’d rather eat it without a fork and knife or like a slice of pizza. Although I have had a tuna pizza before. It was basically an open faced tuna melt but on a pizza crust.

    First tuna melt I ever had was in college. I was surprised how much I enjoyed it! My family didn’t like warm tuna.
